Abstract
The research examines the causal relationship between FDI inflows and economic growth in Tanzania using time series data from 1990 to 2020. The subset of data used for the publication is produced from OECD and World Bank national accounts data available at: https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/

Trade openness has been included as an intermittent variable leading to a system of tri-variate Granger-causality equations. Using the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) bounds testing approach, the results show that there is a unidirectional causal flow running from FDI to economic growth in Tanzania irrespective of the timeframe. These results support the FDI-led growth hypothesis and have implications for policy, practice, theory, and research related to the economic growth of Tanzania to support the country's industrialization in the COVID-19 pandemic response and recovery period.
