The GYTS surveillance system is intended to enhance the capacity of countries to design, implement, and evaluate tobacco control and prevention programs. Kenya The survey had national coverage. Units of analysis were individuals The target group of the survey are learners aged 13-15 years in the selected schools. Sample survey data [ssd] The core module of the GYTS asks learners about their tobacco use and consumption intensity, and their use of smokeless tobacco products, and attempts to quit and relapses. The survey also collects data on their exposure to second-hand smoke, access to and purchasing of tobacco products, learners' knowledge of tobacco advertising and anti-tobacco messages, and their attitudes and beliefs about using tobacco.
