This collection comprises harmonised stacked datasets created by Andrew Kerr, Martin Wittenberg, and Amy Thornton and other collaborators.The collection currently includes three harmonised datasets. First, the Employers and Self-Employed Series 2001-2013 is a stacked cross-sectional dataset created by DataFirst from data from four surveys undertaken by Statistics South Africa (StatsSA) in September 2001, September 2005, September 2009 and September 2013. Second, the Post-Apartheid Labour Market Series (PALMS) 1993-2025 is a harmonised stacked dataset using data from the 1993 Project for Statistics on Living Standards and Development conducted by SALDRU at the University of Cape Town, as well as cross-sectional labour market surveys conducted by StatsSA, from 1994 to 2025. Third, the Post-Apartheid Socio-Economic Series (PASES) 1995-2024 is a stacked dataset containing data from 28 nationally representative cross-sectional household surveys conducted by Statistics South Africa, including the October Household Surveys conducted every year between 1995-1999 and the General Household Surveys conducted every year since 2002. The collection includes a harmonised dataset for Ghana created from official data produced by the Ghana Statistical Service.
