The National Household Travel Survey is designed to assess domestic transport and tourism travel patterns of South African households as well as their attitudes about transport. The target population includes all private households in the nine South African provinces as well as residents of worker hostels. The survey excludes student hostels, old-age homes, hospitals, prisons, and military barracks.
