    <abstract>The study focused on gathering baseline data on the HIV infection/AIDS related knowledge, attitudes, beliefs and practices of alcohol and drug users and in particular IVDUs (intravenous drug users) receiving treatment at selected clinics in the RSA. The emphasis was oncovering major areas of concern rather than doing an in-depth study of the topics.</abstract>
