Department of Basic Education

The South African Department of Basic Education (DBE) oversees South African schools from Grade R to Grade 12, as well as adult literacy programmes. The aim of the DBE is to develop, maintain, and support a South African school education system for the 21st century. DBE datasets include data from surveys and administrative processes of the department.DBE datasets include data from school administrative and monitoring systems,such as the Learner Unit Record Information and Tracking System (LURITS), as well as data from school surveys, such the Early Childhood Development Census and the Early Grade Reading Study. New rounds of data will be added as these are produced by the DBE.
